Age to Age Kindergarten
Who are we?Age-to-Age is a kindergarten classroom in an intergenerational setting; housed in the heart of Medicalodges Nursing Home. This partnership between the public school system (USD 445) and Medicalodges, formerly Windsor Place began in 2008. The intergenerational environment creates an exciting learning experience where the kindergarten children learn beside “Grandmas and Grandpas” who have 80, 90, even 100 years of life skills and experiences.
For Age to Age information, please contact us at 620-252-6430.
Who benefits the most from the intergenerational kindergarten—the elderly or the children?
The answer, of course, is that both generations benefit. The Grandmas and Grandpas fill their days with the energy of five-year old children and with purpose for getting up each morning. The kindergartners are surrounded by willing participants who have the time to offer academic, social, and emotional tools to the young learners with whom they interact each day. The friendship that is built between these diverse age groups of learners is truly a valuable bond.
How do I enroll?
You will have to fill out an application to be put in the lottery draw for Age-To-Age. Applications close at the beginning of May. Please call us and see if it is too late to fill out an application. 620-252-6430
