Reading

  • Knows and uses letter sounds to make and read words.
  • Reads smoothly with expression.
  • Read new words in a variety of books.
  • Retell a story.
  • Recognizes and uses 200 sight words.
  • Demonstrates phonics skills when reading new words.

Spelling

  • Learns assigned words.
  • Uses phonics skills when spelling words.
  • Uses learned words in writing.

Handwriting

  • Forms D’Nealian letters and numbers correctly.
  • Recognize and use upper and lowercase letters correctly.

Creative Writing

  • Create a sentence using a complete thought and is easy to read aloud.
  • Sentence begins with a capital and ends with correct punctuation.
  • Writes several sentences about an idea and creates a picture to match.

Math

  • Creates and extends patterns- ab, abc, aab.
  • Sorts objects
  • Counts by 1,5, & 10’s to 100.
  • Counts by 2’s to 50.
  • Adds and Subtracts to 18.
  • Tells time to hour and half hour.
  • Knows and counts pennies, Nickels & Dimes.
  • Weighs and measures with objects.
  • Knows Plane shapes- Circles, Squares, Triangle, Rectangle, and Ellipses.
  • Knows Geometrical shapes- Sphere, Cube, Cylinder, Cone, Rectangular Prism, Pyramid.
